CORUNDUM

Corundum is a mineral belonging to the group of oxides.

This mineral is the second hardest after diamond. Its hardness is 9 on the Mohs scale and its density is relatively high for a non-metallic mineral.

Corundum is a mineral widely used in blasting and sandblasting work.

Some of the most common applications of are:

  • Toning of pieces (“matting of pieces”).
  • Cleaning of stainless steel, iron and stripping of welds.
  • Dry blasting under suction and pressure.
  • Stainless steel deburring.
  • Blasting of bronze, brass, aluminum, zamack, titanium, etc.
  • Engraving and matting (“matting”) of glass.
  • Preparation of surfaces for subsequent processing.
  • Finishing of castings.
